The ubiquitous application of digital technologies continues to revolutionize the business landscape. The latest catalyst is Web conferencing, whose functionalities include speaker chat, Q&A, polling, white boarding, screen sharing, Web touring, and file sharing. Its use is changing the way employees meet by providing a flexibility, convenience, time, and cost savings that may not be realized in face-to-face assemblies.

Web conferencing delivery strategies include the Webinar, which transmits video and audio content over the Internet and a traditional phone line. Users can view a presentation by logging in to an online Web conference, downloading files such as a slide show presentation, and communicating either via a telephone or through a Web-based chat option; a moderator can interact with participants, view registrant lists, and manage the meeting long-distance. The Webcast is similar, with the addition of using streaming audio or video over the Internet. Both are becoming more pervasive as an effective means for companies to launch new products, for brainstorming sessions, sales demonstrations, customer service programs, new hire orientation, staff meetings, and many more creative uses that the remote office can employ.
